Appreciative Change Work-s supports KIVA

How can we live our lives in a world of riches, while a large portion of our world’s population face systematic poverty on a day-to-day basis?   We can make a difference in the lives of many. Appreciative Change Works provides new opportunities to the lives of those that wish to lift themselves out of poverty, and does so by financing the provision of microcredit through KIVA. KIVA dreams of a world in which all people – even in the most remote regions of our earth – preserve their strength in order to create opportunities for themselves and others. One-hundred percent of every dollar pledged to loans by Appreciative Change Works is spent directly on the selected project; KIVA does not take a share. In addition, KIVA does not ask for payments by those who administer loans. KIVA – founded in 2005 – is a non-profit that aims to connect people through microloans, with the end goal being the eradication of poverty everywhere. This is conducted through the internet and a worldwide network of micro-financing institutions. KIVA lets individuals from all over the world contribute amounts as humble as $25 in order to best facilitate their goals.  

Wat is microfinanciering?

KIVA gelooft dat een eerlijke en veilige toegang tot kapitaal voor hen voor wie deze hulp zeer noodzakelijk is, zorgt voor een beter leven van hen en hun families. Microfinanciering is een algemene term die gebruikt wordt voor financiële dienstverlening aan lage inkomens individuen of voor hen die geen toegang tot bankondersteuning hebben.

Microfinanciering heeft ook het idee dat lage-inkomens individuen zelf mogelijkheden hebben om uit de armoede te geraken, wanneer ze toegang hebben tot financiële bronnen. Studies tonen aan dat MF een rol speelt in de strijd tegen armoede, maar er is meer nodig. Het moet dus niet gezien worden als de enige tool om armoede te beëindigen.
